The "Hong Kong 200" Leadership Project

Our 7B student Wong Man Yi was honourably selected as one of the 200 leaders in The "Hong Kong 200" Leadership Project which was organized by The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) and the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF), helping Hong Kong identify able young leaders and further strengthen their leadership skills and commitment to the community. Each year, 200 youth leaders are selected for intensive training in Hong Kong and the Mainland. The criteria for selection are leadership potential, outstanding academic performance and a commitment to serving the community. During the past few months, Wong Man Yi participated in various training programmes and she joined an exchange tour to Beijing during the summer vacation.

"Hong Kong 200" Leadership Project, organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, aimed at nurturing future leaders to serve the community. Under the influence of my elder schoolmates, I have yearned for the opportunity to join this project. Luckily, I could be one of 200 participants this year.

After taking part in the intensive training in Beijing, I have changed a lot. For instance, the attitude towards the People's Republic of China (PRC). In the past, I used to think that PRC was dictatorial. However, these were the days. Now, I realize that some decisions of PRC are necessary. As what Mrs Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee, the former Secretary for Security said, 'There is no absolute answer for any policy or strategy, we can only figure out a balance such that it could be accepted by almost everyone .'

Undoubtedly, I am exclaimed and somehow proud of the recent advancement of China. I believe the target of maintaining a harmonious society can be achieved in the near future. Now we should be well-prepared and well-equipped ourselves to face the challenges ahead of us.
