This is All About Life

It is not uncommon to hear people complaining about how dissatisfying their lives are, of their day-to-day hardships that are not manageable. We see our miserable lives are filled with problems, deadlocks and with little or no other choice. Then, looking at the lives of others we see them as cleverer, more gifted, and more fortunate. To justify this contrast and our misfortunes, we always say that ‘I would do that if I were rich enough’, ‘If I were clever like he was’, ‘If I had had the time, I would have done that, and better’. We accuse, we grumble, and we complain.

But in no way will the constant grumbling help to improve the situation. Even worse, it hinders our path towards a more positive and fruitful future. In complaining we keep concentrating on what we lack. It makes us sad, depressed, and all too often overlook and take less appreciation from what we have and what we can do. Thus, what we need to do is to look beyond what we do not have and focus on the abundance and strengths that we have. This change of attitude is the first step to appreciating ourselves and our lives.

Once we see past our failures we see our strengths. Only then will we begin to take action and win achievements. I am not saying that every person can make the same gains rather, that everyone is capable of living to the fullest of their potential. As Mother Teresa once said, ‘We may not be able to do great things, but we can always do little things with great passion.’ These ‘little things’ are what that make changes.

Success is not always easy. Occasionally we might fail, but it does not mean the end of the world. We learn from the experiences of failures, prepare ourselves for a larger gain and try again. There is no shame in making mistakes.

To embrace life and to live in the moment; to take up challenges with enthusiasm and passion; to dream without measuring the costs and rewards – these are what life is all about. Being happy does not mean that everything is perfect. It means that we have decided to look beyond the imperfections. As I said, the change of attitude is the first step. Then, we make the best use of our qualities and try to initiate the changes. At the end of the day, we return home wearing a big smile knowing that we have lightened up another person’s day. Isn’t that good enough?

There may be times when our misfortunes seem to be too great, when we are afraid and want to hide away. But we need to remind ourselves of this: regret belongs to those who did not do ‘little things’ and did not grasp the opportunities that they once had.

Love life, enjoy every moment! Carpe diem.
