2-day Exchange Tour in Guangzhou

In order to enhance the cooperation between the school and parents as well as enhancing the exchange between our school and our partner school in Guangzhou, the Teachers Parents Association and the Guidance Committee co-organized an exchange tour to Guangzhou from 28 June 2013 to 29 June 2013.

A total 36 of us including the Principal, the Assistant Principal, Ms Chan Lai Kuen, Ms Sin Yuet Hang, parents and students visited the Jinan University for the first time. It is one of the oldest universities established in the mainland which admits the most number of Hong Kong students. Valuable information was given by the Official of Student Affairs. Both the parents and students were very interested in the admission requirements and choices of study.

After lunch, we visited the Guaugzhou Nanwu Middle School in which we attended a Chinese Language lesson and a Physical Education lesson. The lessons were very lively and creative. Especially in the Chinese Language lesson, students were very pro-active in participating in different lesson activities with good discipline. We have also had a friendly basketball match with the Principals of both schools in the teams!

We then joined the Pearl River Night Cruise. Teachers, parents and students had a very good sharing on the trip in addition to those beautiful sceneries on the two sides of the Pearl River.

On the next day, we visited the Chen Clan Academy which is actually an academic temple in Guangzhou, built by the 72 Chen clans for their juniors’ accommodation and preparation for the imperial examination in 1894 in the Qing Dynasty. We enjoyed the quiet and comfortable atmosphere there in the morning.

After lunch, we had a bit of time to go to a very famous shopping spot - the Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street. We walked around those old historical buildings, did some shopping and enjoyed the snacks and food there.

Before returning, we took a very brief tour around the Higher Education Mega Center. We were all astonished by such a huge area with so many universities. Everyone enjoyed taking photos in the area.

On the whole, the tour has given us valuable experiences to share and to enhance the relationship between each other. Moreover, we can understand more about the development of Guangzhou.
