Our school was full of excitement on May 24th, as we proudly hosted the Inter-school Physics Challenge 2025. We were happy to welcome teams from 34 local secondary schools, who were all ready to show what they could do. The challenge had students work on tough Physics questions against the clock, showing off their smart thinking and science knowledge.

Following the preliminary rounds, we were honoured to have Dr. Man Yuen Wah, Senior Curriculum Officer (Physics and STEAM Education) from the Education Bureau (EDB), deliver an inspiring talk titled “The Discovery of God’s Particle.” Her presentation captivated the audience, sparking curiosity and encouraging students to pursue lifelong learning in science.

The competition was exciting, and five top schools made it to the final round. In the finals, they did a fantastic job, showing great problem-solving skills and a strong understanding of important physics ideas. More than just a contest, the event was a great chance for students to learn, share new ideas, and work together.

We hope this great experience has helped students appreciate Physics even more and encouraged them to enjoy working as a team and discovering new things. A big congratulations to all students for their amazing energy and hard work!

On May 24, 2025, our school held its first ever student-organised physics competition — the Wong Shiu Chi Physics Challenge(王肇枝物理大比拼). At the beginning of the school term, over ten Form 5 students taking Physics voluntarily joined the organizing committee. Under the guidance of Ms. Lam Wai-yee, we started planning the competition from scratch. Everything from naming the event, designing its format and rules, creating the logo, writing the questions, preparing certificates, to external promotion — including sending invitation letters to other schools — was handled by us, Ms. Lam and Mr. Chan Yuk-man provided timely guidance and support throughout the process.

To ensure better execution of the competition, we also invited Form 4 and Form 5 Physics students from our school to help test the event flow. Through this, I realised that organising a competition from the ground up is far more challenging than it appears. Although the planning began in October, the competition was only successfully held at the end of May. Along the way, we often had differing opinions, due to issues like mistakes in the questions, inconsistent formatting, or technical problems with electronic equipment. Thankfully, we were able to reach consensus in the end, because we all shared the same goal: to provide a meaningful opportunity for Physics students to test their knowledge of the curriculum.

Although some minor problems occurred on the day of the competition, we managed to resolve them with everyone’s effort. A total of 34 participating schools, 136 students, and over ten accompanying teachers all enjoyed the competition, as well as the talk we arranged — The Discovery of the God Particle.

I also realised that I was not perfect in handling certain issues. For instance, after formatting the questions, I forgot to send the updated version to the teacher, which caused difficulties for the student responsible for finalising the questions. Despite the ups and downs during the preparation, the competition ran smoothly. From this experience, I also learned how to communicate and collaborate with my peers — when to compromise, when to stand firm, and how to strive for the best. For example, reporting progress promptly to teachers and teammates, or staying calm in the face of unexpected situations. I believe the lessons learned from this competition will benefit me for a lifetime.

On 13th May 2025, as part of our school's 65th anniversary celebrations, we were honoured to welcome back our distinguished alumnus, Mr. Lam Chun Kit, Sammy, owner of the renowned Village Bakery. Mr. Lam delivered an inspiring and heartfelt talk titled “Dreams Within, Passion for Lantau: A Bakery's Journey to Success”, sharing his life journey, career transformation, and entrepreneurial insights.

The event was conducted in a talk show format, with a teacher and two student representatives serving as the MCs and students in the audience actively participating in a lively Q&A session. Adding a special touch, some students were treated to handmade “Palmiers” crafted by Mr. Lam himself, offering a tangible taste of his dedication and skills. Mr. Lam began by reflecting on his days as a student at our school, fondly recalling his favourite extracurricular activities that shaped his character and aspirations.

He then shared his bold decision to leave a stable career in accounting to pursue his passion for baking. Candidly, Mr. Lam talked about the struggles he faced during this transition, including convincing his family of his choice. He also detailed the challenges of starting his bakery, from mastering the crafts of baking to overcoming financial and operational hurdles. With perseverance and unwavering passion, he turned his vision into a thriving business.

The session concluded with Mr. Lam offering practical advice to students about discovering their passions, taking calculated risks, and staying resilient in the face of challenges. His words left a lasting impression on both students and teachers, inspiring all to dream big and pursue their goals with dedication.

The "New Millennium Robotics Challenge Cup 2025" organized by the Hong Kong Association for Computer Education (HKACE) and the Hong Kong Institute of Professional Education - Lee Wai Lee, was held on May 3, 2025. Two teams of students participated in the competition. The list of awardees is as follows:

On the beautiful sunny days of 8 and 9 April 2025, the Tai Po Sports Ground was filled with hundreds of energetic athletes and vivacious cheering teams. They enjoyed the 65th Anniversary Athletic Meet after months of training and preparation. Mr Chan Ka Ho, Hong Kong Athletic Team Coach, was the Guest of Honour for this year’s event. The Athletic Meet was the perfect occasion for students to demonstrate true sportsmanship and enjoy the fruits of persistent training. The "Inter-School Table Tennis Competition," organized by The Schools Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China – Tai Po & North District Secondary Schools Area Committee, was held from March 2024 to April 2024 at the Luen Wo Hui Sports Centre. Thirteen student athletes participated in the B and C Grade competitions. Our Boys B Grade team was awarded 5th place, while the Girls C Grade team was awarded the 1st runner-up. “Joint-School Trail Walking,” organized by the TTR Trailwalker Teaching Room Charity Foundation, was held on March 22, 2025. The race started at Lam Tsuen Wishing Square and was divided into a 4-km junior group and a 6-km senior group.
